2016 Cook Islands 2 oz Antiqued Silver Norse Gods – FRIGG, Early Year Mintage.

Ancient gods have spawned a healthy new selection of numismatics over the last couple of years, featuring deities worshipped in ancient times. First choices are usually the Roman or Greek gods, but the Norse gods are far more interesting, and it seems many mints agree. Struck by the masters at BH Mayer in Germany, undoubtedly one of the very best mints in the world from both a quality and a technical point, these series is dedicated to Gods of Norse mythology. Many high-relief coins, they have slight concavity to the reverse side, thus enhancing the coin’s visual appeal. The artwork is very attractive and the written inscriptions are well integrated into the design, consistent and not excessive. The traditional obverse of the Cook Islands coin features the portrait of Her Majesty Elizabeth II surrounded by the inscriptions: the Queens name, the face value of the coin, its issuing country and year. The reverse of the coins is struck with an exceptional high relief technique that results in a stunning visual effect and remarkable design. THE COIN IS GRADED AS PERFECT BY NGC AND ALSO COMES WITH MINT-ISSUED COA. Giving her name to the English weekday name Friday (Frges day), Frigg is described in nearly all sources as the wife of the god Odin. She also is described as a goddess associated with foreknowledge and wisdom in Norse mythology, the northernmost branch of Germanic mythology and most extensively attested. Frigg dwells in the wetland halls of Fensalir, is associated with the goddesses Fulla, Lofn, Hlín, and Gná, and is ambiguously associated with the Earth, otherwise personified as an apparently separate entity Jörð (Old Norse Earth). The children of Frigg and Odin include the gleaming god Baldr. DON’T HESITATE TO ASK QUESTIONS AND PLEASE CHECK OUT MY OTHER LISTINGS! FOR CUSTOMERS IN UNITED STATES. This is the seventh Silver coin in the beautiful series Norse Gods and features the wife of the major god Odin Frigg. The coin is minted with an exceptional High Relief technique creating a stunning visual effect and remarkable design, in Antique Finish quality and 2 ounces weight. The coin comes packaged in an attractive case, along with the Certificate of Authenticity. Limited mintage to 1000 pcs worldwide. The coin’s reverse depicts Frigg, the goddess of love and fertility, but also the wife of Odin, dressed in a cloak of hank, in this way she can fly with Odin. On the top of the coin, the inscription: “NORSE GODS” and on bottom “FRIGG” the name of the coin. The coin’s obverse depicts the effigy of Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II, the issue year: 2016, the face value: 10 Dollars and the issue country: Cook Islands. Size: about 38mm in diameter and 6mm in thickness measured on the edge. Weight: 2 troy oz. Approximately 62.6 g. Frigg sometimes Anglicized as Frigga, is the highest-ranking of the Aesir goddesses. Shes the wife of Odin, the chief of the gods, and the mother of Baldur. Strangely for a goddess of her high position, the surviving primary sources on Norse mythology give only sparse and casual accounts of anything related to her personality, deeds, or other attributes. The specifics they do discuss, however, are not unique to Frigg, but are instead shared by both her and Freya, a goddess who belongs to both the Aesir and the Vanir tribes of deities. From these similarities, combined with the two goddesses mutual evolution from the earlier Germanic goddess Frija, we can see that Frigg and Freya were only nominally distinct figures by the late Viking Age, when our sources were recorded, and that these two figures, who had formerly been the same deity, were still practically the same personage in everything but name. American Eagles or Canadian Maple Leafs is affected by many economic factors, including the current market price of Bullion, the perceived scarcity of the Coins and other factors. Some of these factors include the quality, and current demand and general market sentiment. Therefore, because both Bullion and Coins can go down in price as well as up, investing in them may not be suitable for everyone. Because all investments, including Bullion and Coins, can decline in value, you should understand them well, and have adequate cash reserves and disposable income before considering a Bullion or Coin investment. Please consult your financial advisor. APMEX does guarantee that every item that we sell is genuine and that all Precious Metal items do contain the weight, fineness, and purity that we have advertised. However, all investments, of every type, involve some level of risk and Precious Metals are no exception. Like many markets, the Precious Metals market is speculative, and it is unregulated. The value of any Bullion item is generally determined by current spot price of the underlying Precious Metal and by the supply and demand for these particular items. These prices will fluctuate throughout the day while the Precious Metals market is open. If you are considering purchasing Precious Metals as an investment, you should assess the stability of the current market and contact your financial advisor for all advice.
